About Us
SMA Talent has long been one of the UKâs leading international film/tv composer management companies and weâve now successfully added film directors and screenwriters to our roster of activities.
The business is headed by the husband and wife team of Olav and Carolynne Wyper who between them have more than 25 years expertise working in the UK and the international film and television communities. Working with us is composer agent Lesley Jackson and assistant Marcia Whan.
The original business was started in 1975 after deciding to leave the majors and to become an indie. We originally traded as Olav Wyper Limited, managing recording artists, bands, record producers, songwriters, including Landscape, Trevor Walters, DiAnno, producer Richard Niles, Bob Howes, producer Steve Rowlands, classical guitarist Michael Conn, Les McKeown, producer Tony Taverner and others. Acted for a number of years as European consultant to Japanâs JVC Victor Records.
With Japanese promoter Hayashi International, organised Japanese presentations of a number of London shows; including Singing In The Rain, with the original West End cast led by Tommy Steele, and several tours by London City Ballet. Also partners with Kaz Utsunomiya in KO-Operation Limited, a Japanese management company representing Yuroshito Music, The Yellow Magic Orchestra, Riyuchi Sakamoto, Akkiko Yano, Stomu Yamashta, Ippudo, The Mods, Newsbeats etc.
